Well, I have the extreme death wobble. I've noticed it for a while, just haven't had the time to deal with it.

Whats the easiest solution? Keep in mind price too...

Shim the rim, so that it stops wobbling (it's about a 3mm wobble)

Replace axle shaft





Also keep in mind, theres a possibility she's getting traded in for an 07 level 2. If they can make it so I'm not upside down on the loan, I'll do it, if not...no way.

 

which side? driverside? scott (big04ranger) should have a drivers side axle shaft.

I just need the d side axle shaft...I'm pretty sure they are universal.

Although I put on my swaybar (back on) and it's a lot better, hardly noticable, but I still need to fix it!

 

you can get an axleshaft dirt cheap at any u-pull-it yard. if its a 28-spline you can grab the shaft from any 7.5 or 28-spline 8.8, if its the 31-spline grab the shaft from any explorer. they are really easy to swap out. after you pull the diff cover you just back out the crosspin retaining bolt and then slip out the crosspin and pull the c-clip, hten with the drum off you just pull the shaft out.

 

Don't shim it. Do it right and replace it or you will just destroy axle bearings and then you run the risk of your seal leaking diff fluid on your brakes and then it can get dangerous.

 

ahhhh i thought you put in an Explorer 8.8......yea then Scott (big04ranger) has one....

 

i did.. it sat around here for 3 months and i could not get rid of it.. went to the scrapper

ive got mine from the 7.5. same shafts on the 28 spline 8.8. what ya want for them?

 

I dunno, brand new superiors (or something like that) are 100 each, so I have no idea.
