California trip - Blown Drive Shaft =\

So, my truck is in the shop till today down here in CA. I guess the drive shaft on my truck was going all i could hear was the scrapping and pinging noise when i accelerated and decelerated...

They said that where the two portions of the drive shaft connect was shot..

There goes 600 bucks.. it sucks.

There is a big metal ring at the front of the driveshaft. Just take it off and it will be fine. I went through one driveshaft and then on the second one I did that and it has been fine since. Don't waste the $600 on it!!

Well being it was something that isnt uncommon so ford said.. I just had the rebuild my driveshaft and re-machine everything. And well it works now..

685 dollars later.. And i was on vacation i was in no place to go find a junkyard and deal with it..

I had 2 days to get it fixed and luckily they did haha.

Well..

I was driving and all of sudden i hit Vegas.. so like 500+ miles into the trip i hear my a noise everytime i let off the gas its like the scrapper bads on the brakes and thats what i thought it was.. SO i get to Huntington beach where i was staying and took the truck in the next day.

They called and said its coming from inside the drive shaft and its 800 for a new one or 500 for a rebuilt one. And i said rebuild it. So they re-machined it and rebalanced it and added new u-joints and all that jazz.

See. The shaft was getting ready to undo itself to make taking your manual t case that much easier.

lucky me i learn to drive on CA roads.. its not driving aggressive its actually just dumbing up your driving.. its like i have to cross the state line and forget what my blinker is.. or what one car length looks like.. im not normal unless i make excessive lane changes and cut people off..

yay for orientals.. that drive benz and bmw who dont even deserve a license.

You got on the 71? And yes the 91 sucks. I take that damn freeway everyday to work. I leave an hour and 10 minutes before I start work just in case. It took me 3 hours to get home one day. But that was when I got off during rush hour.
