lol, it would still come out of gear even if the clutch wasnt pushed, my 3rd gear has been kicking out here lately, but i was expecting to have to hold it in like my prevoius 3 rangers, not get it stuck in gear, i think ford transmissions hate me, ive had to replace at least one in every ranger that ive owned, but i found another 5 speed with 30000 miles on it for 125, so ill be getting it 2morrow

mine was doing the a similar thing. but i was stuck in 2nd and i could move my shifter to every gear and it was still in 2nd. more than likely your shifting mechanism is screwed up and needs to be replace. i know they have a spring in them that is crap and that is what broke on mine.

No ! Buy new parts and replace.
Not completely sure but it sounds like a detent pin to keep the shifter/trans in gear.

You will be driving along without the pin/spring and the truck will pop out of gear.
Third is important; do it right and fix it by cleaning up the trans, replacing worn or broken parts.
You will be better off in the long run.

the pin is what caused it to get stuck in third, it slid out and got hung up in the housing, and it has detent *****, so i really dont know what the pin is for
