i know the hub bore changed on 10" drums at some point as i had a set of 94 10" drums that would not fit my 03 rear.

what i need to know is what year the change happened, AND if the 9" drums have the same change.

i need 9" drums with the larger hub bore.

i need measurments of the center hub of 9" drum rears. if you have a 9" drum rear and meet the other qualifications in my GD thread , please continue.

• remove a rear wheel from your ranger
• measure the diameter of the hub protruding from the center of the drum
• report back in this thread with the year of your truck and the diameter of the hub

i am workin on a 5lug swap for a slightly off beat axle combo. i am hopin ranger drums will fit my application w/o additional machining. i am certain they will fit other than the center bore, jus lookin for some confirmation on hard numbers before i walk into the parts store and buy a pair.

p/n 8952 - 9" rear drum up thru 97
p/n 80036 - 9" rear drum 98+

center hub looks bigger in the pics of the 80036. can anyone measure a 98+ truck with 9" rear brakes for me??

 

should work on what? you dont know what axles i am tryin to use or what the hub size is on them

FWIW, i am tryin to use 94-98 sn95 mustang axles (~2.75" hub)

 

cause its not going on a mustang, its an older thunderbird

and 10inch brakes would be disproportional with the 10inch brakes up front

 

1. i didnt originally specify what axles i was using because i didnt want to muddle the situation with questions about what im building. i only needed measurements, then we can talk about it, if it works
2. i said im using mustang axles, as in shafts, not a complete rear axle
3. its not a downgrade when the car im adapting currently uses 9" drums
4. im not using rear discs because the application and intended use dont necessitate the extra work or money involved to properly set up the master cylinder and prop valve for a balanced four wheel disc system

anybody got a measuring tape and 5 extra minutes? id measure it myself if i had access to a truck to measure, i know someone here has a 98+ with 9" drums
