2wd to 4wd

So I have a stupid question .
I just inherited a 92 4.0 auto standard cab 4x4 .. The problem with the truck is that i will not go forward in any gear.. I will move just fine in reverse but nothing in any forward gear..

Now my question is this ... I have the good 2wd tranny out of my 91 4.0 that i swapped a 5.0 into.. is there any chance that i can convert the 2wd to a 4wd tranny . it looks as thow the tail housing unbolts on the 2wd ...

I know it would just be easier to go get a 4x4 tranny but I already have the good 2wd trans and Im not afraid of some work .. if it means not spending any $$$$

The 4.0 trans will not bolt to a 5.0.

A 2wd trans can be converted to 4wd if you swap the output shaft and tail housing. In order to do this you need to tear the trans down completely and reassemble it.

I think he was just saying he swapped a 5.0 into the 91 and has a spare 2wd tranny.
