Clutch issue

So my clutch recently started going out on my Ranger... I ordered all the necessary parts to replace everything (clutch set, flywheel, slave cylinder, and even the main seal) anyways... The guy working on it got everything installed the way its supposed to be, but now he's got an issue thats even confusing him.. The truck will drive as long as you only push the clutch pedal in about 1 1/2" if you go further it sinks to the floor, then if you let it set for a little bit the pedal will come back up. Anybody have any ideas what may cause this? All thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance.
