Cold shifting

For those in the colder climates... how long does it take for your truck to shift into overdrive when the temperature is below freezing?
Mine seems to want to hang in 4th until the truck is almost completely warmed up. Is that normal for a '07 FX4 Level II? All my other vehicles are manuals so I'm not too sure!

your waiting for the TQ converter to lock up is whats hanging up Ranger transmissions like MANY auto trans will not lock up until over 100deg might be 80 but my trans gauge when it hits 100deg it will finally lock up

nothing to be worried about its working fine

I believe ford uses a different shift strategy to help the truck warm up until the coolant is 160 degrees.

Okay thanks, that's kind of what I figured but it's good to know it's normal!
