Dana 35 ifs locker options?
Ok i know i may be beating a dead horse here but i kinda wanted to make an official thread of traction-aid availability options for us with the bastardized dana 35 ifs. what are the options out there for locker or preferably limited slip?!
For the record for everyone out there, our dana 35s are 7.56" ring gears and 27 spline count axle shafts and c clip style... what can we lock up with? Thanks and good luck to everyone who searches for this... |
As far as I know, the Aussie is the only locker available out there fort he D35... And they're hard to come by. I'd be careful with the rig you have listed in your sig... It's already prone to grenade with that torsen.

elaborate on prone to grenade
|
Early 02's, only manuals, were prone to go boom randomly. No stressor really causes it. A recall was placed for it. Mine almost went boom. But I caught it early enough and pulled it, threw in a Lock right and 4.88's.

well when the time comes detroit helllllloooooo! or e locker lol. but till then oh well. and i take it if this happens i'll know? like kaboom type of thing..
|
Yeah dude... It'll go boom. You'll know.
I must say though, the Torsen does well for what it is even with 35's. Maybe that's why mine went so fast. Pulled my axle from a 02 with 75k+ miles on it and at about I'd say 100k on the axle it went bye-bye lol |
Only thing out there is an Aussie Locker which is discontinued. I believe Torsen makes a limited-slip, not sure how much they are.
|
I think Torsen LS is in R&D still.... I've heard rumors of it releasing soon though.

I think the torsen is supposed to be released..? Although after all of the talk from people, I have only HEARD from one person that has one.
Aussie is the other option. Automatic lockers kind of suck in the snow but in NM that probably isn't your biggest concern. |

There was a guy on here who said he had bought one. He's got a black Ranger, believe it's an 06 with an Iron Bull bumper on the front. I can't remember his username.
A link where he shows some pictures is here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/drivetrain-tech-37/torsen-lsd-front-diff-install-107198/ Seems you can buy it online from Torsen directly ($500+Shipping): http://s300909324.e-shop.info/shop/c...rview_pager=1& I might just grab one and work on the install once the weather gets nicer. |
Ok sweet good to know that the t2 is available for the front!
Two more questions, i looked up the recall date on the 02 fx4 rearends and its from feb 02 so if my truck is production dated after that i'm gonna think that i'm fine, so how do i tell when my truck came off the factory line? secondly, if the torsen blows, do you just need a carrier replacement or a whole new set of gears, carrier, maybe even axles etc? |

If it blows up you'll need the carrier at minimum, replacing the gears and other stuff will depend on how much damage it does when it goes. My05edge ended up replacing his entire axle with a junkyard axle after his blew up. |
