My '96 4X4 Ranger has the elec. 4wd shift. I've been using it quite a bit lately with no problems. The other day I went to shift it into 4wd high and it did nothing. I checked the wires and fluid underneath the truck and all was OK. A day later I used the 4wd again, this time it work fine. Now today I wanted to use the 4wd and again it did nothing. This time the 4wd high & 4wd low lights on the dash started blinking. They blink 6 times and repeats itself every 2 minutes.

Any ideas??

The electronic 4WD on my '93 Ranger went out a few weeks ago. Pulling and replacing the fuse (it was intact) made no difference. I also had an electronic glitch when trying to engage the front end repeatedly to see if it was just a bad contact or something--no "4WD" light, but the gas gauge pegged at above full with less than a quarter tank. Luckily that problem went away. Next step will be a call to a Ford mechanic, followed up I suppose with an expensive repair. Randy's problem sounds electrical for sure. Ever get it fixed?
