explorer rear end

Icon4 explorer rear end

are all explorer 8.8's 31 spline???
because the shope i bought my tires and rims from have one sitting out front and they said i can have it for 50$$ it looks like it had drum brakes on it but they said that something was wrong with it... so what all do i need to completely restore this rear end? ima put genuine 4.56's in it.. but ya like i said are they all 31 spline?? and what all do i need to completely restore it and what all off my 7.5 can i use on the 8.8...??

HELP!!!

I am about 99% positive they are 31 spline. The Explorers didn't get disk brakes until 1996 I think and the years before that were drum brakes.

alright well ima go on and buy it monday.. what all can i do to this rear end besides just gear change and a locker..?

You can convert it to disk brakes!

no i like drum brakes lol personaly... but any other suggestions? lol

summitracing will have rebuild kits

and as far as I remember, NOTHING will work off your 7.5s


Does this axle come with brakelines? And you will have to relocate the spring perches

All Explorer 8.8's are 31 spline. Drum brakes was used from '91-94. In '95 the disc brake was an option.

i said I THINK it has drum brakes but im getting this rear end definitaly since its only 50$ i mean i cant go wrong with this and ima go check out that rebuild kit for the 8.8
