front axle seal

Has anyone had to replace one of these? I have one that's leaking pretty bad and need to fix it. Is it just a regular seal like a pinion or tail shaft seal? Thanks!

i have a 2007 ranger fx4 and i have the same problem with a leaky seal where the passenger cv axle connects to the shaft that comes from the transfer case. i ordered the seal from napa and it should be in today. Ill be tackling this job this weekend and ill let you know how it goes. ive done my rear pinion seal and am hoping it is similar once i get the hub assembly and axel out.

Seems pretty straight forward, looked it up on Mitchell today. Just noticed my pinion seal is also starting to leak. Seems kinda early for these to go since the truck only has 90k on it. Plan to do the front seals when I do my lower ball joints which are also shot.

my rear pinion seal was leaking at 65,000 km. easy fix, just remember to mark the nut and count the turns it takes to come off. replace the seal then put it back on with exact amount of turns that took it off. if you need to replace bearings you will need to find the torque specs for new bearings.
