A transmission problem

A transmission problem
My 1998 has a stick and 344,000 miles with a 4 cylinder.
I replaced the clutch and slave cylinder and pilot bearing a year or so ago and I've had to return the truck twice since because the slave cylinder keeps going out although it has worked fine recently. Bear in mind I drive 50,000 miles a year.
Today it left me on the road for the first time ever. The engine is running fine but there's a grind in the transmission or clutch area and I had it towed.
It sounds like it's coming from the clutch area like it's the bearings around the pressure plate or thereabouts.
Any ideas on what's wrong? I want to sound like I know more about the problem than I do.
Thank you.
Chuck
