Got some ?s on transmission

Okay i got a 1985 ford ranger 2.9 v6 not a 4x4. and found a guy with a cheap trans cause mines stuck in gear will a 1986 4x4 v6 2.9 work??? if u bypass the transfer case???

no the tail shaft housing is different along with the tail shaft diameter

What if you change the tail housing out or will it not bolt up u ever heard one gettin stuck in gear well 3rd?

the tail housing will bolt up but you gotta swap the tail shaft so that the driveshaft will fit it

yeah sounds like you lost a shift fork

Wait.

Just swap the xmember, and xcase in, even if you don't have 4wd you can run it in 2 hi.

and if you ever want 4wd, you're just in need of a new front setup.

Having had a vehicle in the past that was lacking a front driveshaft, 4 lo still does magic only driving the back.

But if you can only get the tranny, then no dice.
