4x4 not working.

When i put my truck in 4wd, it engages and the lights come on. But when I hit the gas, it makes a popping kinda sound, and the front tires don't spin. I though it had something to do with the front driveshaft, and I replaced that today. It must be something else, cause it still doesn't work. Or either the driveshaft i got was messed up too. Oh, and it's a 2002 ext. cab with the 4.0L.

Sounds more to me like its something to do with the transfer case

Yeah, thought about that, I'm not sure though. Is there any way I can check or find out what it is? Like some way to narrow it down?

Yeah, but it doesn't just make noise. Neither of my front tires spin when I hit the gas.

it was my right side cv axle was bad,and my tire didnt spin neither the bearings in the u-joint what shot so it made half the cv axle turn and half didnt that's what made that popping noise, put your truck on jack stand and put in into 4wd and find where the noise is coming from

Thats what I'd do. I'm 99.99% sure these things are open front differentials. So if you'd have a broken/damaged CV then all the power would be going to that side and you'd have no 4wd. Plus if you have her up on jack stands you can just follow the trail. Start at the front driveshaft and if its turning you know its not the transfer case then keep moving forward.
