HELP DANA 35 IFS DRIVER SIDE SHAFT DISENGAGE'S HELP
Hello I would greatly appreciate some help.
I have a 2007 Level II. In 4 high and low the driver side front shaft disengages when i'm into the gas pedal hard. Under idle it stays engaged. I think it is time for new CV shafts then?

I realize it is an open diff. No mods just a stock truck. When i'm in the revs i can here the clunk as the power cuts out to driver side shaft and the passenger side does not spin or engage when this happens. It does not grind or whine after it appears to disengage switching between 2 high and 4 low reengages it again, sometimes, along with just waiting. im not sure where the cv comes out i was under the impression the hubs where always locked in?
if its broken on one side the other side will not spin either.. you wouldnt have working 4x4 at all. probably need a new cv shaft but not 100% sure i understand what you mean, how do you know its 'engaged' at idle..?
^ What he said. We need more info... The info we have to work with is contradicting itself when compared to the functions of the truck.
Like has been said before, you've got live axles and an open differential. Meaning the hubs are always engaged...the weak link out there is the CV shaft itself. It's a much stronger set up than the 98-99 PVH system. This also means all components rotate (driveshaft included) all the time, regardless of 2wd or 4x4(hi or low). Freespin is at the Tcase. The only disconnect/connect is the transfer case shift motor.
Now you shouldn't be switching in and out of 4hi with a heavy foot while rolling...that could lead to that small pinion taking a good hit or transfer case complications.
