Icon4 Hissing sound from shift stick

I bought my 06 Ranger XLT 4x4 in march 2013. 138,000 km. I noticed a quiet hissing sound coming from the stick shift area of the truck that I could hear in all gears but 3rd and was loudest in 2nd and 4th, It was quiet in neutral but while moving you could still hear it. If I had the fan on full I could not really hear it unless I really tried to. The used dealer took it in under warranty and fixed it after 6 months of dragging their feet saying it was a bearing in the clutch. But after getting it back the sound was still there. 3 weeks later I lost the clutch completely and they say it is the slave cylinder... Does anybody see a link here or have any idea what is wrong with my truck. I love my Ranger but am wondering what I need to do here.

the clutch slave cylinder sounds like a possible culprit. is it leaking fluid or have u noticed a fluid loss in the reservoir?
