How much lift till you need a solid driveshaft?

Im about to lift my truck more. Its 4" in the front and 3" in the back now but im gonna bump it up to 8" in the front and 6" in the back. Im sure I'll need a solid drive shaft. My question is can i ride for a little bit with the two piece? Also will a newer 2WD solid driveshaft be a direct swap into mine (95 2WD)?

Thanks

Is there a slip yoke on your driveshaft or on your transmission? If its on the shaft then obviously you can't go solid

You can swap in a one piece shaft from a later Ranger. There should be info with a little searching.

I had to get a new 1 piece shaft made up for my 93 ranger when I went to my I did my 6" suspension lift in the rear.. but the truck will be driveable.. the 2 piece will just vibrate until you get above about 15 mph.. just take it easy off the line..

As for swapping a newer ranger shaft... I dunno, because they I think they are like 3-4" wide.. I got mine made to 2.75" and even at full flex it grinds on my gas tank skid plate...here is a pic of my one peice...

at a 6" lift youll get some vibration due to the weird angles the u joints are placed at. thats what happened to me anyways. go get a one piece steel shaft from a 98+ ranger, itll fix your problem.
