hubs won't stay locked

When i put it into 4hi, it will work perfect right away. It won't slip at all but then usually no farther than a half a mile when i start out again, i will slip and the back end will go out like i'm in 2wd. So i have to take it out of 4hi and put back in whenever i'm going to have to start back out (in snow). Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks

Prob. something to do with the vacum lines.. We have automatic hubs that are ran off of vacum lines. if there is a kink, or a tear in the lines, no hubs.. Just go got manual hubs and be good..

Yep.. sounds like a vacuum line is toast. Go get yourself new vacuum hubs, or switch over to manuals!

Just did mine, piece of cake. 15 minutes total installed. Tellico has em for $150 but I found mine cheap at some site based in alabama or something.

if i buy the manual lockin hubs, do i have to do any other work besides putting them on or is it that simple. and when i lock them in will i still use my 4x4 switch, or will it not turn them on/off and switch the gears? thanks

Your 4wd switch still switches into 4wd. The only thing that will be different is that you gotta get out of the truck to engage the hubs. Unless you run them locked in (lotsa people do)
