instaling servos

so i looked all over the fourms and relly didnt find quite the answers im looking for.
heres some photos of what im trying to get done on my friends ford ranger xlt, year 2000 automatic
trucks been sitting for a min open like whats in the pic.
i got parts for it which for some reason i cant send to myself, but will figure that out in a min, used my web cam.
what im asking is #1, are the servo/piston covers prety much plug and play?
just stuff them in the hole. compress it enough to get the snap ring on and away we go?
so theres the parts i got theres the transmission thats been open likek that for a min.
looking forward to replys and if im just wasting money and time on a truck thats not even mine LOL
anyhow, thanks and remember, if life gives you lemons, make lemon meraugue pie

You're showing us servo covers. And yes, they just shove in to fit the snap ring.

How did you determine the transmission needed them?

How many miles are on this 2000?

servos

hello and thanks for the response to my inqurrie,
milage on the ford is almose 230,000 as far as why the servos were called into question i have no idea other then what my friend has told me about it.
its not my truck and ive never driven or seen it driven, so everything i know about it is whats been told to me.
this evening we pulled the other servo and now need to get o rings and springs for both. not exactly sure if its even necessary but at this point im 130 bucks into it and figure if were going to replace parts, might as well get everything new.
probaly a waste of time and money but ive known my friend for 50+ years and well, hes a good egg and id like to try and get this resoleved so hes got some kind of wheels to drive instead of taking the bus.
anyhow, sorry about rambling on and i hope the extra info helps in this.
thanks again Opahtank (Alan)

If it operates the same after you get it back together, one cheap, easy and often effective thing you can do is add a 10 oz. bottle of LubeGard in the red bottle.
It greatly improved shifting in a vehicle of mine. People swear by the stuff. Get the fluid clean (by changing) first.
