install torsen lsd diff in front end

install torsen lsd diff in front end

hey guys ... i have a torsen to get installed in the front end of my 06 , now i can't do the install myself but i was wondering if any of you guys can tell me how long it "should" take to put this thing in, my local ford dealer is sayin about 11 hrs but they never had the front end out of a newer ranger before... any info would be a big help .... thks

Probably about 15 minutes to package it and mail it to me haha


I would say something like 8 hrs to pull the axle , install and put it back in

Yeah 11 hours sounds about right for the dealer to charge.

just the torsen, you will be first person on here that is going to put one in that I know of. I've been wanting a L/S for the front for a long time and it finally has come out. Get it one day maybe

you have to order it from torsen part# 975420-0207B ,they haven't updated their website yet so you won't see it if you go there..

adan.... in canuckbucks it is 500.00 + 50.00 shipping, i had mine shipped to etobecoke,on to keep the cost down & torsen covers the customs charges, great company to deal with...

That's pricey enough but I was actually kind of expecting it to be more to get it up here. I deal with a couple driveline places at work, I should check with them and see what I can pick it up for once it's more of a mainstream thing in the system.

my only question then, is is it worth the drawbacks of the live axle/spool(ish) front end issue?

i didn't think the price was too bad , i ordered a detroit t/t for the rear from national 4x4 that cost 750.00 for the unit to get here to nova scotia after taxes & customs charges...

if you've got a national location close by, they shouldn't charge you shipping period... i actually just ordered a 3" BL for my buddy's st from them here in calgary

i'll let you kno,but theTorsen LSD's (mechanical / gear type) offer better cornering becuase they can still allow for the inside wheel to turn less and shift power to the outside wheel,The Torsen works as an open differential when the amount of torque going to each wheel is equal. As soon as one wheel starts to lose traction, the difference in torque causes the gears in the Torsen differential to bind together. The design of the gears in the differential determines the torque bias ratio. For instance, if a particular Torsen differential is designed with a 5:1 bias ratio, it is capable of applying up to five times more torque to the wheel that has good traction.

Have you thought about dropping the diff yourself to save some labour time? It's a straightforward job to do, just more time consuming.
