what is the difference???
i was wondering if some one could tell me what the difference between limited slip and an open rear is in easy to understand format? i have 8.8 3.73 L/S gearing with 31"s it feels fine to drive but im thinking of going to 36"s and was wondering if a 4.56 would be fine in an 8.8 rear? Aso is it hard to install these gears and if i where to add lockers would they fit in my axle?
thanks in advance

An open diff will transfer power to the tire with the least resistance. So if you have one tire on dirt and the other on the street, the tire on the dirt will spin. A limited slip will help transfer some of the power to the other wheel but they don't work in extreme situations. Like my truck has factory ls but if I get one wheel off the ground it will just spin the wheel in there air.
