OK, so I notice some drippy bits on the driveway like 2-3 days ago. Having just flushed/filled tranny and changed fluid about 1 month ago I'm initially concerned. Upon investigation however its not tranny fluid, wheeww. It might be worse. The fluid appears to be coming out of a breather line that terminates on the drivers side near the wheel well. I have a photo, can anyone identify where this goes, ITS FREEZING COLD so I'm not crawling around looking!

Also, once the source of the line/fluid is identified what on earth could be causing it to "explode" all the way up the breather line??

The line in question, which I'm 90% sure is the source of the dripping fluid, is covered in goo and has a black "cap" above the white adapter looking piece.

that looks like the breather tube for the front diff. but i have no idea why it would pushing oil out of it. did you go in some deep water sometime?

water in the fluid might cause foaming which might push up the breather tube

Negative on the deep water. Any water around here is pretty much frozen. Could it be related to some sort of "failure" in the front differential housing? I last used 4x4 a week ago when it was snowing pretty bad, no issues tho, engaged and disengaged just fine.

The befuddlement continues.

Could be getting water from the ice or snow after it melts, through the front pinion seal... Seen that happen before. The ice splits the seal and allows everything to get in the front diff...

maybe check where the front driveshaft goes in to the front diff. could be leaking there also.

Hmmm, I'll have to check out that area as well, I did have my front pinion seal replaced under warranty last year! Could be gone again and allowing stuff in there and causing problems.
Its supposed to warm up a little in the next few days, so I'll report back on what I find!
