Just trying to get some general knowledge here. I have been wanting to do a locker after i get my rcd and what not. What are the pros and cons of doing it in the front vs. back and vice versa
your going to go through tires faster, break more stuff blah blah blah.. my advice is get an explorer axle so you can get a better locker and its stronger too so less chance of breaking that crap..
on another note, if you dont really care... like me about on street performance they rock.. i only have an aussie front and i LOVE IT.. rear lockers comin soon

Your FX4 came from the factory with a limited slip in the rear axle as standard equipment. To get the most bang for the buck, locking the front would be the way to go IMO. You can always add a rear locker later if you want. Downside- installing a front locker is more work because you have to drop the front axle out of the truck.
If you lock the front and use 4x4 on snowy roads, you will find that it is difficult to keep the truck from pulling to one side or the other. Even a tire diameter difference of only 1/32" right to left is very noticeable. 2WD on the street with a front locker is no different from stock except for the clicking when turning at low speeds.
Off road on loose terrain, a front locker is great - you should take it easy though because it doubles the max torque that can be transmitted through either half shaft.
