Would a M5OD-R1HD tranny be compatable with any SOHC 4.0 or just a particular year? would this set up be able to work with any ranger? would there be complications in attaching it todrive shaft/ diff/ axel system from a 94 2.3L I4 truck?

 

When the SOHC came out for the Ranger the M50D-R1 HD came with it so no compatibility issues with that. Cant really answer you question with the shaft.
