tranny damaged?
The tranny on my 96 3.0L 4X4 auto ranger with 4.10 gears has been doing something thats not normal when you accelerate hard to like 4000pms when it shifts gear you can feel the shift it like pulls. Like if the gear delay. it like on a manual tranny if you let the clutch out to fast. can a tranny oil change fix it?

There's a couple of things that can cause that and you should periodically change your fluid and it can help many things.
Another "hard shifting" problem sometimes is the throttle position sensor. It's on the throttle body and when it gets worn or flaky transmission shifting can get very weird.
I'm not diagnosing that as the problem -- just pointing out that all transmission symptoms aren't from transmission failure in todays electronically controlled transmissions.
I haven't gotten out my collection of service manuals, but if your tranny is not electronically controlled, then the throttle linkage (kick-down cable) or vacuum servo can also cause problems.
