Manual transmission fluid change

When changing the fluid in a 2002 manual transmission is just drain the old fluid out and replace it?

Is there a filter in manual transmissions?

Thanks,

Jake

yea mercon V. i changed mine this past weekend when i changed the clutch. i put a 1/4 quart of lucas oil stabilizer first, then filled it to the fill hole. but i poured it through where the shifter goes. much easier since i already had the shifter out.

i wanna say it was like 2 and 3/4 or so. i put 1/4 quart lucas oil stabilizer and i think i ended up using almost 2.5 quarts atf

edit: i think alldata says 2.5 Liter refill so a little over 2.5 quarts is about right. i just went until it was right at the fill hole.

It works great. I used it for my front diff and no leakage.
