Manual Transmission Problem

I have a 2003 FX4 that I rolled on its side last week. I rolled it back over and added a quart of oil and it ran fine until the other day when I went to back it up in a sandy field. The truck jerked like I lost the front drive shaft. I got out and checked and everything looked good so I jumped back in the truck and went to back up and there was no reverse it feels like the gear is there it just won't run, it goes in all the other gears and runs but they just pop and click. Does anyone have any idea what this could be or does it have to be replaced/rebuilt?

Haha, yea we do. I live about an hour east of Cincinnati in Bethel. And yes, I wrecked it on one curvy *** road that I was going way to fast on.

Is it just reverse? Can you use 4wd and still move around?

Sounds like the synchro's are gone in at least reverse... Possibly others if it keeps popping out of gear.

Might as well drop the tranny and get another one from a junkyard... It'll probably cost the same.

^agreed, but I would at least have it looked at before ya just say **** it and find another tranny, cause you just never know, but that's the way to go if Trevor is right.

I just went to a local junkyard today and they told me that it was going to cost between 550 and 750 to buy a used transmission from them. Do synchos really cost that much for the ranger?

Holy hell man...

I paid like $60 on half off weekend for my tranny. My whole auto to manual swap was under $1000 including all parts and labor (PCM Tune) and fluids... I would try a different yard.... Don't call a yard that pulls it for you, those are ALWAYS more than a U-Pull-It.

I'm assuming you don't have a seatbelt law in your state...saved two of my buddies lives. slammed his ranger into a ditch doing 60mph to miss a deer. truck flipped over, *** over front. Both of them came out w/ nothing but some whiplash. not trying to argue, just saying. i'll always wear mine.

Wow $60 for a transmission is crazy and I was calling the yard that pull it for me because I didn’t figure I would be able to pull a transmission in the yard but if it will save me $600 I’ll defiantly look into it
