fluid and filter change....how often?

According to the factory maintenance schedule, it's 50,000 km, or about 30,000 miles for my truck.
Transmission shop will do a filter and fluid re-fill (not flush) for about $100 Cdn cash (uses Mercon V - about 4 1/2 liters/quarts.
I borrow a friend's shop and do it for the cost of the tranny fillter and the Mercon V - either way, a cheap price to pay to keep the tranny happy.
BTW, now at ~450,000 km (~250,000 miles) on original tranny.

Mobile 1
Oil & Motorcraft Filter
3K Later just a filter and add Oil to top off.
Anther 3K, Oil & Filter…
ad so on and so on !
I watch for the 6-Pak Sales for Mobile 1, usually around $28 and two filters, so around $40 for two Oil changes, so to speak.
I am thinking about changing to Valvoline Full Synthetic but will always keep the Motorcraft Filter.

what i was told which may or may not be true, could be total bs, but when i worked at valvoline, the guy who has been there forever and is a pretty big car guy said mobil 1 is better for performance, and valvoline is betterwear protection. we used to have signs that claim 4x better, but who knows. truth is most any oil, especially a major name brand synthetic, will be fine it its changed regular.

By the way Jason chiltons says 24k for coolant flush. I think that's a little soon but hey nothing wrong with doing it too often. I want to do tranny and coolant sometime I'm at 38 and have done neither.

I personally also suggest power steering every 50k to reduce whine later down the road. It will keep your rack and pinion happy as well. With age the fluid gets contaminated and thick putting stress on the pump and the rack. The black pudding that slopped out of my pump was disgusting, Helps explain why my steering is so loose and the pump leaks lol.
