Measuring Pinion Angle

Was wondering if there anyone could give me a DYI guide to measuring a pinion angle. I saw it in post

https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=46646

I seem to be having a similar problem and shimming seemed to solve it. Didn't see it how to do this in my haynes manual.

Thanks in advance!!

You'll need a magnetic angle finder to do it.
