MY TIRE JUST FLEW OFF GOING 50MPH!!!!!

ok so i was driving down this hill going 45-50mph and i hit a bump in the road and my wheel bearing just snaped and my tire hit my fender and dented the shiat out of it, and hit my flare and launched it like 30feet off to the side of the road...and i just felt my truck hit hard adn then i heard a grinding noise and saw my tire fly past me...i slid about 200 feet and because my whole tire, wheel , brake disk, and caliper brok off cause the tire was still bolted to the hub....it broke my caliper and riped my brake line so i had no breaks.....i started down shifting and locked up my ebrake after i was down to about 20mph....my tire rolled like 300ft down the road then hit the curb and launched up it, then went up like a 20ft hill and then over a couple more curbs and then rolled another 50ft until it came to rest in some parking lot......some crazy ****....i have some pics but they are on my friend camera...ill get some in the morning of the truck in my drive way and get the ones from my friend and ill take a vid of where my tire went.....all it all it broke my wheel bearing and ground my lower ball joint all hte way down and then even grinded about 1/4 of an inch off my super lift spindle...so idk if it is still usable...and idk if ill be able to get the wheel bearing company to pay for it or not...or even the county since it broke on this big bump in the road...idk ill probably end up buying eveything on my own tho with my luck...lol

here is a couple pic i have but they are really bad...

Holy **** dude! I almost had a similar experience on Sunday. I was on my way home on a 2 hour drive and I started hearing a whisper sound which turned into a grind, then growl, then started banging! Luckily I got home in time. I jacked up my truck and the front passenger wheelbearing was ready to snap in half. It wasn't even loose at all a week ago when I was working on my brakes

Just so you know...wheel bearings don't just "go". You have plenty of early warning and you must've not seen or heard those warning signs.

Sucks about the truck.

no these ones just "went"...i have replaced them a couple of times...and these still didnt have any play in them.....i just had it aligned on monday and i asked about them and they said they were still fine.....i know the waring signs....it snapped the shaft between the bearing and the actual hub part the wheel bolts to....the inner bearing is still tight and you can see where it just sheared off....but ya i didnt have any warning signs which is why it surprised me so much...

Is your tire running!?!? You better go catch it! lulz

But jus kidding bro. I had my front come apart on my old ranger and my new on one of the wheels failed(due to lowpro lug nuts) and came off. It sucks.

Yeah, it's never a good thing to go cheap with suspension or drivetrain parts. Glad you're okay.

I agree 100%. theres a reason they are so much cheaper, they are made cheaper and cheaper in this case means poor machining, inadequate material or heat treatment that all can result in a weaker component. TIMKEN is the only brand bearing assembly i will use as a replacement to OEM parts in my trucks. glad you werent hurt and hope you can get your truck fixed up like new again.

I think this was your warning and the fact that it wouldn't stay in alignment. Then you just put wheel spacers on and it was too much

I had a feeling something was wrong in this thread when I saw that tire looking like that

^^^I've mentioned the front end was all effed in the past as well. I didn't know spacers were put on. The truck needs adjustable upper cambolts when it's put back on the road.

Yes, you DO NOT skimp on bearings or joints IMO. You cheap out, you'll pay for it in the end and it looks like you're paying for it right about meow. TIMKEN FTW!!! RockAuto has timken's for my live axle truck for about $150 a side or so. I had to buy a new one when I whiped out a 20k used bearing a few months ago. Ordered me up a '07 bearing and the sensor plug fit and it works just fine....and the price was like $30 cheaper than the bearing that's listed for my '01. And fwiw, Timken is the OEM supplier for bearings.

i have adjustable upper cambolts...and my alignment wasnt "going bad" or not staying aligned...it was just never right after les schwaab aligned it the last time and i waited too long to have it redone....like i said i had it aligned on last saturday....and the wheel bearing had no play in them.....and they made no noise either....it just broke.....i snapped right in between the bearing and the hub part the tire bolts to....
