Need Help, 4x4's not working
I have a 2000 XLT 4x4 4.0l. My 4x4 is not working at all, The relays aren't clicking at all in the dash and the switch isn't doing anything. I have Live axle so I don't have vacume hubs, and I have a brand new transfer case motor. I need help if someone has any wiring diagrams or trouble shooting tips of places where I can start looking to eliminate some possibilities like the switch or G.E.M. Module. Any help would be great, Thanks.
This is the best I can come up with. If the fuses are good then check the relay before you go to the switch.
You checked all the fuses right? The ones in the cab and under the hood?\
Have you tried replacing the relay with another one you know works?
Finally, have you used a multimeter to see if the switch itself is working?

That would be because there is no relay.
All the Electric Shift Control functions (except switch position) occur in the 4X4CM, part number 1L54-7H417-AC.
If the OP (Josh) wants a schematic (2000) for Electric Shift, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll get it out tomorrow (EVTM is @ home).

In the schematic you will see there IS a relay involved, but it is only used to engage a clutch in the transfer case to bring the shaft up to speed for a smooth shift. Its failure will NOT cause it to fail to shift, but it will make it clunk at speed. You’d have to lay on the DS floor, looking up under the center of the dash to find that relay box. It also contains the Battery Saver relay, but I wouldn’t bother. I really think your 4X4 Control Module is bad, if the fuses are good. I can’t tell you exactly where that is located, but the diagram shows it in the center of the dash. I’d expect it to be behind the radio/heater controls area, on the right? It has a label that says 4X4CM and is approx. 6” x 5” black box, with two connectors. It’s mounted with two screws.
Your e-mail Spam control filter blocked me from sending the schematic. I can't get approved (from your link) because the work server refuses that connection. I'll send it to my hotmail address (Earl43P@hotmail.com) and send it to you from home at lunchtime.

BUMP! All Fuses are good, Transfer case motor works and the transfer case shifts into 4hi manualy. What electrical problems have people had with there 4x4's? Any hidden relays go bad, GEM problmes? Any help is appreciated.
