Icon5 Need info..

Well,I am probably going to sound stupid, but I bought my 2000 Ranger XLT sport 2 weeks before being stationed in Germany, so i havnt really had any time to learn much about what its got. If anyone can give me some info on what my truck has for stock gears, drivetrain, etc. i would appreciate it. Also, I am doing some mods to it such as a 3" body lift and 3" Suspension lift and 35" BFG's, ive been told that i should do something with the gears, but no one has told me what i should do....

ok first need more info from you.. manual or auto. 3.0L or 4.0L?

body lift go with Performance Accessories, suspension the cheapest you are looking at is 4" superlift at $1500ish plus $500 for the front drive shaft.

for gears 2 ways to find out.. go on the diff and look at the tag, it will tell you the gears, or look at the door axle tag and give us the #..

Zach we don't know if he's 4x4 or 2wd. If you can get us a picture of your sticker on the doorjam then we can let you know what gears, drivetrain and more info.
EDIT: Saw in his profile that he's 4x4, nvm.

look at the door sticker, then look for the 2 digit number under the spot labeled "AXL".....

then look here to find what stock gears you have:
https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=37149

then post them up here......

you definately 100% have a 8.8 axle.....i would say you have a 3.73 open 8.8......

any way you go, when you run the 4" Superlift and a 3" body lift, you need to be running 35" tires......with 35" tires and the 4.0, 4.56 gears is the best choice for gearing.......<--speaking from experience...

it all depends on your stock gearing......if you have anything lower than a 4.10, you MUST regear to run a 35" tire.....

Well, you are right. 3.73 gears. Well, the new gears are almost 700 bucks. So, how bad would it be to run the stock gears for right now? Till i can get the new ones?

Are you asking how bad it would be to run 3.73s and 35s?

If so its gonna be bad, you'll have super low gas mileage and no power. At least go with 4.10s theres a guy selling them in the classifieds right now. You really want to go with 4.56s to get it back to stock specs tho.

That would be better than 3.73s but you really need 4.56s. They would work for a temporary fix but you'll still have crappy gas mileage and loss of power.

If you have a 8.8 this will work. $416 http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Or you can make you own combo:

$219 gears http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
$110 installation kit http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Total $329, I like that one lol.
