slipping out of gear? (automatic)

2002 3.0 automatic

Every so often while I'm driving, specifically taking off from a stop my truck appears to be "slipping out of gear", to which I mean its like this thing is popping itself out of Drive. I continue to press the accelerator and the truck will rev like I'm in neutral with minimal forward movement. Then, after about 10-15 seconds it will finally jerk (feels like a neutral drop) and it will act completely normal. I'm not throwing any codes, and am really hoping the trans isn't on its way out.

Hope that made sense.

mine did, and sometimes still does the same thing. but mine only does it on a hard downshift or when the tranny is still very cold. i changed the fluid and filter and it helped a bit. but i still wanna take it back apart, change out the torque converter and adjust the bands.
