No reverse and no shift after transmission service

Hey all, first time poster. I have a 1995 Ford Ranger 4.0 rwd with a 4r44e/4r55e transmission.

After changing the valve body gaskets, transmission fluid filter, and pan gasket, I have completely lost reverse (Not engaging) and I have lost my up shifts from 1st/2nd gear to the next gear. After noticing this, I panicked, went back under the truck, dropped the pan again, and inspected my solenoids and reverse servo. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

It should be noted that, during my test drive, 1st and 2nd gear felt LOADS more responsive than they were before my service attempt, they just won’t upshift.

Could it be because I accidentally dipped my solenoid harness connector into my catch pan as I was removing the valve body? Could it be because I didn’t seat the valve body gaskets properly?

Any response/input is greatly appreciated, as i’m in dire need of some help.

Update

I forgot to mention that, after my second time under the truck, and putting the pan on, I noticed I was very low on ATF, so I topped it up to the appropriate level, waited maybe 5 minutes, then my reverse came back. But it’s very rough and boggy, like I’m losing pressure, still no upshifts.

Did you put the correct filter in it?
the 4x4 and RWD filters are different, the 4x4 pan is deeper and requires a different filter.

Are you checking the fluid level while the engine is running?

I’m fairly certain I have the correct filter. Just got the duralast filter and gasket. Says it’s an automatic filter. Also, yes i’m checking the fluid level while in park and while its running at operating temp

(I did notice my new VB gaskets were a different material than my old ones, it’s more of a paper whereas the old ones felt like a thin metal. Is that right?)

Superior shift kit installed on 5r55e

I had the superior shift kit installed on my 5r 55E transmission 2 wd auto I had all my gears before the shift kit. I was just slipping in some and lost reverse so I put the shift in and now I have no gars you can go through the gear selector and you can hear the engine change tones like it’s going into gear, but I have no gear, what would be the issue anybody know?
