Noise from Detroit TrueTrack LSD

hey guys.... i had a detroit t/t installed a week ago,it was fine for the first day but I am noticing a binding with slight clunk noise during turns. This condition does not happen all of the time it seems to come and go, the clunking has not affected the LSD operation at all.it does it mostly making left turns

Has anyone else experienced this condition?

Sounds like you or the shop needs to pull the diff cover and makes sure something hasn't been screwed up on install.

Otherwise look up eaton's 800 number on their website and call. Once you get through to the differential guys they are very helpful.

that sounds more like a regular detroit.... take it to the installer or pull the cover and take a peak. mine never made any noise and was smooth

... soooo, i called detroit & talked to brent,he said there is nothing in that t/t that will make a "clack" when making a turn so the problem must lay elsewhere , so i took the truck out for another drive , going around a curve @ 30 mph = clack clack clack, applied brake no change, applied e-brake & got a large bang from the back end before the the truck started to slow but the "clack" stopped, when i got home the left b/drum was hot the rt was cool..... me thinks me needs a brake job......

sounds like they just need to be adjusted better. the shop probably had to back the brake shoes off to get the drums off so they could slide the axles out and they probably didnt adjust them close enough. id bring it back to them and have them fix it.

.. when they had it apart they said they had to replace a spring that was damaged, i told them to replace the brakes while everything was apart but they didn't have time, i'll have the truck back to them monday to get things fixed up....... at least im almost sure the problem is not with the truetrac :~)

.. problem solved, turns out the noise was coming form the plastic wheel centers, when the truck turned the wheel would flex causing the centers to move out of place then snap back into place making a loud clack, if you have the same problem place a rubber band between the plastic center and the wheel, no more noise
