O/D light blinking

Ok so, I realize you need codes to diagnose the problem but here's whats going on,
yesterday I was driving in the city and my o/d light began flashing. after getting to a friends house i turned it off and when i left their house turned the truck on and the light was off. Driving around all day today the light never went on again. The transmission was re-built in november by the previous owner.

Is this something I should be worried about since the light hasnt come on again? Or should I take it back to the shop that re-built the tranny? Also, Can you pull codes when the light is not on?

I have a 98 4.0, 4wd. The engine was replaced with a 60,000 mile engine and the Transmission was re-built.

when it did it on my old ranger it was getting stuck in OD until i came to a complete stop i drove on it doing that for about 2 months but it was also coming on everytime i went above 40 or 45 and then would slow down so my trans was screwed up i would wait to see if it happens again and if it does try to read the codes on it that is my 2 cents might not be what other people would do

mine was like over drive was off since it was at a higher rpm while driving at 50/55 mph. it was at about 2500 rpm's. it hasn't come on again.
