overdrive qustion

overdrive qustion

I have a overdrive button and I like to know this - right now the light is off,but is it better if the light is on? would that give me better mpgs.

when the light is on, all it does it keep you out of overdrive. all overdrive does is keeps your rpm's lower, conserving fuel. I drive with o/d off around town. when I get over 40 or 45, I normally turn it back on. when o/d is off (which is when the light is on), it wont give you any better gas mileage. don't drive with the light on, on the highway, or going to fast.

I turn it off when I want to pass on the highway, instead of mashing the pedal and bringing her down two gears. Works pretty good.
