Picture Request: Manual transmission with BL & w/out & with a shifter extention.....

looking for pictures of a manual transmission shifter in a truck with a body lift and no shifter extention......i want to see how low the shifter ball sits.....

also, if you have pictures of a manual transmission shifter in a truck with a body lift and a shifter extention installed, i want to see pictures of the shifter location...

I dont have any pictures but about 6 years ago i had a 1996 Ford Ranger XL 4x4 with a 3 inch BL and no shift extension. The shifter sat a little low but wasnt all that big of a deal to me. I had to do some cutting of the plastic piece that goes around the shifter so that i could get it into 2nd, 4th and reverse.

You're using the LII arm right? I don't have pics of mine without the extension and with the original cup holder console, but it needed no trimming with that arm because of its shape. I actually liked the way it felt more without the extension, but when I went to the twin stick boot setup the boot came up to high on the arm so I had to put the extension in.

yea i am using the Level II arm (hope it is here by the weekend so i can do the swap!).....i might just have to try it.....is it hard to put in the extention after the tranny is in the truck? i bet it could be done by just removing the floor hole cover plate.....

i am also going to be using a Level II shift boot....

you don't even have to remove the floor plate. Just take the console off and put it on. Its real easy, should only take about 10 or 15 minutes.

even with the body lift the stock extention sticks up high enough to go through the floor cover?

Yeah. You have to take off the console and the little rubber square boot thingy that attaches to the floor plate. Unless you have incredibly huge hands you'll still be able to do it without removing the floor plate. I've had mine on and off countless times since installing the body lift.
