rear axle and bearing clearance?

Can anyone tell me what the clearance is supposed to be between the axle and the bearing? How much is too loose? on 28 spline axles. Thanks James

Hi, Not how far in the axle will go, but how much the axle hub can be moved up and down, at the bearing. I want to know if my axles are worn where they engage the rear axle bearings, there must be some spec. for free play, right? Thanks James

Ok.
The bearing is a press fit so it needs to be tight.
Chances are the bearing may have some movement not the bearing to axle.
If you on are concerned about the bearing fitting the axle, pull the axle and see if it moves on the axle shaft.
There will be a slight movement up and down.

Sorry I can't give you a specification on it, it is a feel to me not a measurement.

Thanks, I'll put in new bearings, then see how the axles feel.
