rear end and gearing question???

rear end and gearing question???

ok i have a 95 ranger 2wd 4.0 v6 its all stock at the momemt im lifting it 4" suspension lift 3" body lift on 35" buckshot mudders and ive been thinking of switching out the rear end for a 2.3 4 cyl rear end im looking for advice i want a good gear ratio that would push those 35s like nothing.. also i want to install a locker what is the best but cheapest way to do so please help me out thanks

well you have a 95 with the 4.0 which means you should have the 8.8 rear now. which is good, so now youll need to have some one re gear the axle to 4.56 or 4.88 both are good for 35s.

oh and theres no cheapest way of doing this. its not cheap

You certainly should not switch what you have for a 2.3 4 cyl rear end. Just re-gear what you have. The 4 cyl rear end is too weak for the 4L engine.
