Rear End Lockers
Rear End Lockers
I am wanting to put a rear end locker in my truck, but i pull a boat with my truck also. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to put in it?
Also, will it hurt my gas mileage, and if so, how much?

Information about the truck can also help us answer questions, but i would suggest a powertrax lock-right or no-slip depending on what rear end you have. They are simple to install in a couple hours with hand tools and relatively inexpensive. The no-slip would be the preferred as it is smoother than the lock-right.
I don't like automatic lockers because of handling peculiarities under power. But some learn to deal with it. I much prefer a selectable one for the rear since mine is a daily driver.
My truck is more sensitive to such things though since I don't use sway bars -- any "non-linearities" in the handling get amplified rapidly.

Here's a link to check what rear end you have....

You might just have a 7.5". Easiest, DIY route might be to find a 8.8 with factory Limited Slip at a junkyard.

I have a Powertrax no-slip and would buy it again.
I have a 4.OL 4x4 with a 8.8 28 spline axle and the powertrax no-slip and think it’s the best for the money. I will admit that if I had the money I would have gotten an Arb air locker for the ability to leave it completely open on the highway & have an air compressor. Towing with it will be no problem, probably even better on a boat ramp(watch the video on the powertrax website), I haven’t towed with mine but it will plant all the power if your tires will take it. I cant say about mileage loss because I put bigger tires on at the same time so I did loose 1-2 mpg, but went over an inch bigger on tire as well. The powertrax is very streetable, I drive it everyday, it does click (I don’t notice it unless I listen of it) on turns and will squeal one tire if you are floored when it locks. You will notice its performance more off road, I have to use 4wd a lot less in sand. I much prefer it over the stock limited slip, which never completely stops spinning one tire.
