im looking to lock my rear end. what is the best for the money?

if you dont already have the 8.8 i would go get one that has limited slip

 

spool, or in your case a mini spool.. you know its always working and there's no moving parts to wear out.

If you want the most performance for the money this is the way to go. probably dont wanna do it if its your DD though.

don't weld it.. spools are cheap enough and they won't break nearly as easily... the only axle I would feel comfortable welding is the 14bff.

 

well it is a 7.5...and the only time i weld the rear end is on my derby cars.lol

 

I'd get a lockrite.

 

I honestly would waste your time with the 7.5 rear end. Do you really need a locker or would a limited slip be better? What do you have now?

 

well im looking to do some MILD off roading and have a unstopable truck for the winter but not break the bank.

 

get an 8.8 l/s diff out of a ranger..., you'll be 10X better with that

 

IMO you are wasting your time locking a 7.5, since you'll likely be replacing it all after you break it anyway. lol
At least you finally told us what axle you have. The best bang for the buck for a daily driver is probably an automatic lunchbox locker like an Aussie, Lockrite, etc. The lockrite is probably the only thing you'll find for that axle. Read up on them and decide if it is something you want on a daily driver.
