What tools are needed to remove the explorer rear end the junkyard I am going to says I have to remove it myself

 

You need a socket for the ubolts, socket 12pt NOT 6 for the yoke(forget size), open end wrench for the brake line and some flat heads and or pliers for the Ebrake line and a locking plier to hold the line slack at the front of truck where it comes out under the driver side (Pull that line out with hand far as you can go, slap those pliers on the exit hole on cab and that will hold it slack while you take a flathead and like a hammer and tap it you of the connection where the line meets the rear line)

I sugest you use a impact mabye with someone witha compressor that they can run on theyre truck or it will be more of a pain that it is allready.....

You need jack stands, a jack and boards/plywood because its probably in dirt, and make sure to take a friend to help with the work and spot you for safety.....

Hope that helps give you an idea at least, check your ranger and most sizes should be the same far as I know......

 

sawzall... 12mm wrench, 13mm wrench for use as cheater bar.. couple sawzall blades.. chain for pullin truck off of diff out.. that should just bout do i think...thats how i would do it..


spose you could take some jack stands as well... have fun gettin them back tho

Will the diff. flange yoke hook up to my Ranger driveshaft?

 

Pittman arm puller, thats a tool i had to rent to do my front end last weekend....

 

Cordless sawzall, just cut the u bolts off, cut the driveshaft off, cut the brake lines off above the hardlines, cut the ebrake cable. done.

 

always been my approach at you pull it junk yards....

 

i dont think you will need a pitman arm puller to remove a rear end.....at least you didn't on the rears i have done.....dont know what you have pulled rears from...

 

I need to see if anyone has a cordless sawzall I can borrow think I could cut through the leafs or should I just unbolt them?

I wonder if I cant find a sawzall if I could just unhook the axle and slide it out over the leafs by removing the rotors and calipers

 

gas powered cement cutter... that will be the only tool i ever bring to a yard, exp after i tryed to get chevy springs off.

 

ummm no.. u bolts hold the diff in... rotors and calipers are mounted to the diff...

 

Yea I know I ment unhook EVERYTHING except the leafs if I cant get them unbolted and angle it to slide out the rear end. The leafs are the only thing I am worried about because there is not much room to work with there. Too bad they are not spring over!
