About a year ago I was driving to work, when i spun out on some ice and crashed my truck. The crash went as so. I was doing 25 on a dirt road covered in ice. I hit an array of potholes and spun out doing a 540 right into the side of a hill. The bead on the tire popped, and there was minimal body damage. Now what i am trying to figure out is why my back passenger side tire has wobbled like it is about to fall off ever since. She still drive's like a dream, I just get so sick of old ladies yelling at my that my tire is going to fall off. Ive spoken with several mechanics who said it was the rim, (it isnt) and others who say the axle is bent, and some think the disc is bent. Any and all feedback is appreciated, sorry if my "car lingo" is junk, im still learning. Thanks guys

 

Quick answer, If the wheel is wobbling then it has to be one of two thing, one the rim, two the axle shaft.

Not much else in that area causes the wheel to wobble.

There may be more damage, the housing could have damage in the wheel bearing area.

The tire must have hit something when it popped its bead.

Is there wheel damage ?

Thanks for replying. No wheel damage, I had the tire fixed and drove on it til the tread wore down. I replaced it with the spare, hoping that i had damaged the rim in the accident and sure enough the tire still wobbled. Now with a new set of toyos and new rims the rear passanger tire still wobbles. My mechanic says that the axle isn't leaking any fluid either, which means nothing to me, but maybe will give you a better idea of whats going on. Rear driver side runs straight as an arrow.

probably bent the shaft or the studs pull the wheel of and see where the bend appears to be if you can't see it id start with replacing the shaft on that side if its not leaking then it most likely didn't damage the bearing or housing at the end there the shaft is fairly easy to swap but if you have it apart might also consider a rebuild kit to replace the bearings and such should buy more life out of it.

 

As stated replace the axle shaft on that side and see.

A bent housing wouldn't cause a wobble, just an out of line problem.

 

Doesn't your truck shake? I would get that fixed ASAP. Your new tires are going to take a beating if it's doing what i am picturing in my mind.
