shackle bushings 85 Ranger

Hi All

Ok I ordered bushings for this thing and I am finding it is not a walk in the park. I have not pulled anything apart yet but did not think bushings would be a big deal. I have redone the frame and I am starting to change out all rubber. I only have time on the weekends to work on it so I try to order what I need for the next weekend.

I ordered a set of ES hyper flex set for the rear leafs. My Ranger is a 2WD.
I get the bushings today to find they may not fit. I only have 5 days to return them and will not have time to take the old ones out.

Does anyone know the plastic or steel bushing story? I am told they used either plastic housed or steel housed bushings. Is there a way to tell without pulling it apart? I got the part number of the shackle it is E47A 5778 AB I tried to search and nothing comes up.

I am told they used plastic housed bushings (very uncommon) or the common steel housed. Hoping I would have the common I ordered them but now I do not know. I found I only have 5 days to return them and I will not be able to take them apart until this weekend. Will not make the 5 day period.

Does anyone have any info on this and if there is a way to tell without taking it all apart. Can this part number be used to tell?

They have concave washers on each side so I cant even look in or try to use a pick or screw driver to see if it is plastic or steel. It will have to come apart unless there is another way of knowing.

Thanks

Well I have learned not to order parts unless you have the old ones out.

My bushings are plastic and what a b*tch to get out. I finally burned em out.

Seems Ford used different types in the same year. Part people tell me that is a real issue with Ford. So lesson learned.
