How do you get the little pin on the right out in the tranny body?

were switching trannies from an aerostar, which has a different gear selector.
the old tranny was toast so we didnt mind having to drill out the pin, but on the tranny thats going in thats not an option. weve used pliers, and screwdrivers, etc. i know theres a tool for it, but we cant figure out where or what it is.

any help is great!
