Spicer Driveshaft

Ok I was looking under my Ranger today for some unknown reason and looked at my driveshaft. I remember looking at it back in April when I got it and it looked new and is really shiny, well not shiny but clean metal. Well there was a tag that said Spicer something on it. Does that driveshaft come stock? 2002 Edge 4x2 3.0 Supercab

Spicer is a company that makes axles/u-joints and driveshafts. And yes alot of OEM parts are spicer.

Stupid question why does it matter, if its OEM, its probably nothing special, just another driveshaft.

ford farms out a lot of parts to other manufacturers. a lot of driveline components are made by spicer, electronics by visteon, etc. its cheaper to buy the driveshafts from spicer than to set up shop and build them themselves. the driveshafts will get a little rusty but its no harm, the one on the torino has been like that for 35 years and no problems, it rarely gets deeper than thin surface rust
