200$ junkyard find!
well ive had my 8.8 28 spline rearend for a lil while now but i got down and dirty with it today and sanded it then sprayed her down with rustolen then a duplicolor black primer then! i completely coated it with rubberized undercoating for now...
and yes it does look brown but its sitting on stands in my driveway so it can bake in the sun ad it does turn black
i wont be using any of the brake lines that are on it now i just kept them on for the moment so i dont get anything that i dont want inside them little holes..
well it has a 3.73 ring gear ratio and lucky me i didnt even realize i got a ls rearend until i read up a little more into rearend tags lol
well here she is tell me wutcha think!

Mine told me they would have to wait for a fork lift to come open, and i was looking and a guy driving one around with nothing on it, pissed me off, so i offered to pull it myself and they said that would be fine but i have to have it out by closing time, which was 3 hours away, hardest part i had was finding a jack in one of the junk cars, but i found one and got it out in about a hour, they knocked $50 bucks off since i pulled it myself so i was happy...
Then a few weeks later i went back to the yard to get some sport trac wheels and tires and they told me 50 each, it had been rainin that day and the trac was in a bad location so i took my wallet out and left it in my center console, about 30 minutes later came back with the wheels to pay for them and found my wallet in my floor board empty, someone got $250 richer cuz of my dumb a$$...and bad part is no one else was in the yard but me and the workers and i parked in front of the front door so the guys that were on the computers could see my truck and they said didnt anyone go in my truck, i dont do anything with them now...

ya i just put the rubberized coating on their for the moment to keep the rustolen from being touched by any weather while it sits up but when i regear it and get a new dif cover on it then ima pull it resand it and spray it with bed liner called gator 2 we use it on all our atv's and tractors and its worked realy well to the abuse at the hunting camp so im pretty sure it will hold up fine
and ideas on a dif cover? i can only find one for the explorer 8.8... will they fit
and will it be a better idea to just use my drum brakes or would it just be easier to swap the brake lines and parking brake line?
