tranny is making me nervous

it seems that when its cold outside, sometimes when downshifting it will come out of gear and pop into neutral allowing it to rev freely until i let off the gas and it pops back in. and reverse shutters going into gear sometimes.

do i need to rebuild my tranny?

gonna change the fluid and see if that helps. either way its making me nervous. don't really wanna drop a ton of money right now. lol

no more warranty?

It sounds like it's low on fluid or taking a poo honestly.

yeah. im at 40k miles now. and i'd like to see them honor a warranty on a truck with a BL and 35's haha. i'd be surprised if they would. never had to take it in for warranty work.

You bought it new right? It might be worth a shot to see if they will honor the trans warranty. They can work magic sometimes. Even if they wont cover it 100%, they might only charge you a portion of the cost as an act of good faith.

The worst thing that will happen is they will tell you to **** off.

My mom's previous 96 Mustang had a weird idle issue that they covered even after the warranty was up. No cost to her.

Mine was doing that for a while, ended up being like 2 quarts low on fluid. Topped itoff and she's back to new, so worth a shot to check out. Always sucks when you go to gas it off a light and you just rev up like an ***

Trannies make me nervous too, dude. lol

Check the ATF level before you get all worked up though. If the ATF is okay, flush it and see what happens.

check the fluid, drop the pan. If its anything like what ive experienced, youll have a lot of metal shavings, add some more magnets to the pan after you clean it real good. if that doesnt help, start looking for a new trans. My current one has 44k and does the exact same thing. i droped the pan changed the filter, cleaned the pan and magnet. its helped some but mine still does it(i burned the trans up again).
o and be prepared to get messy.
