decoding tranny tag

please help!!

i am trying to figure out what tranny is in this parts truck that i might buy. i ran the vin off the cab. the vin shows the the cab is off of a frame that has a 3.0 with T code tranny. but the frame that the cab is on right now has a 4.0 ohv motor.

this is the tag off of the tranny: 98gt kba 2
08 C 10

do "T" 4r44e and "D" 5r55e they have different oil pans?

i need to know everything about this tranny.
i need a D code tranny.

I had no clue what this thread was going to be from the title lol. Check www.therangerstation.com's tech library, they should have a ton of info on either tranny.

I thought the 5r55e was a 4.0 only transmission though, I thought the 5r44e came in the 3.0s

is this correct all 98 4.0 rangers have this tranny (5R55E D 1995 - 2001 4.0L Rangers
5-Speed 2.47 / 1.87 / 1.47 / 1.00 / 0.75).

there is no chance that there is any other transmission on them in that year. is it possible to find a 4.0 with a 4-speed.
